The Dallas Cowboys will host CB Leon Hall as they look for secondary help in NFL free agency.

Despite better than expected showings on defense the last two seasons, the Dallas Cowboys secondary is still a bit of a mess. They certainly could use cornerback help, which is why it’s not surprising that NFL Network and NFL.com reporter Ian Rapaport says that the team is bringing Leon Hall in for a visit.

The 31-year old Hall has played his entire NFL career with the Cincinnati Bengals and has proven to be good for about 3 interceptions a season while playing reliable coverage on outside receivers. That’s something the Cowboys could desperately use from the former first-rounder, as their efforts to shore up the cornerback spot in recent seasons — most notably trading up in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft to grab Morris Claiborne — haven’t exactly panned out.

The other team to recently host Hall, the Arizona Cardinals, would seem to be closer to true Super Bowl contention with the addition of a veteran corner. But hope springs eternal in the Big D, and Jerry Jones has consistently maintained that he expects his squad to bounce right back to something closer to their division-winning 2014 form with the return of injured players like Tony Romo and Orlando Scandrick.

Some combination of Scandrick, Hall and Claiborne could actually turn the CB position from a liability to a strength. We’ll see if this meeting turns into something more.
