Before he became a breakout star during last seasons NBA playoffs, Otto Porter Jr was most known for one of the worst defensive plays in recent memory, as he got caught ball watching so much that his man cut all the way across the court before Porter noticed and reacted. The play instantly spread across Twitter and Porter was a joke before his high energy and a shooting streak made people forget a bit about the play in the playoffs. On Wednesday night in Houston, James Harden decided to pay honor to Porter with his own defensive mishap.

For comparison’s sake here is Porter.

While imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, Harden actually takes things to a new, worse level. At least Porter was watching the ball instead of nothing and kind of reacted to the play. Harden on the other hand is staring at who knows what, as the ball is being taken out-of-bounds from the corner opposite of where he starts.
This isn’t exactly a great way to start fixing a reputation for bad and lazy defense.
