Utah. Jakob Poeltl. 4. player. 18.
The Celtics still have a pick near the top of the draft thanks to the woes of the Brooklyn Nets this season, paving the way for them to take a talented young prospect. Given the free agency situation in Boston, the Celtics will be looking for some front court depth that won’t sacrifice cap space, which makes a center an appealing option in the draft.

Poeltl’s game will be well suited to the NBA. He plays hard and runs the floor extremely well for a seven footer. He already has an NBA body at 7-1, 245 lbs. His 1.6 blocks per game might not make it seem like he is an elite rim protector, but his mobility and size will help him master the NBA’s verticality. Most NBA teams “zone up” their bigs on ball screens, a tactic that drops the player back into the paint. Poeltl is tailor made for that type of defense, which the Celtics run with most of their big men.
