NFL Rumors: Oakland Raiders interested in Joique Bell
Could the Oakland Raiders be interested in adding Joique Bell to their backfield?
The Oakland Raiders got an unexpected huge season last year from running back Latavius Murray. Murray, a sixth round pick of the Raiders in the 2013 NFL Draft, rushed for 1,066 rushing yards and six touchdowns in 2015 while averaging four yards per carry. However, Murray is more of a straight up the gut runner.
Oakland has been looking for a complement to Murray and they have expressed interest in free agent running back Joique Bell.
Bell would be a solid option to backup Murray as he has had some proven success with the Detroit Lions. He rushed for a career high of 860 rushing yards and 322 receiving yards (1,182 total yards from scrimmage) in 2014 and was solid for the Lions in primarily a backup role. Bell is a bit quicker and more versatile as a receiver out of the backfield than Murray and would provide a change of pace to the third year running back.
He also has minimal experience as a returner, returning four kickoffs for the Lions. In 68 career games, Joique Bell has 2,235 rushing yards and 1,640. The undrafted free agent has 22 career rushing touchdowns to go along with one career receiving touchdown.
