East. Miami Marlins. 1. player. 82. . National League

While the Miami Marlins will not have the luxury of using the DH in the National League, one would have to believe that Miami would be the frontrunner to land Rodriguez on a one-year deal before retiring in 2017. Why Miami? Mostly because that’s Rodriguez’s hometown, not to mention the cast of characters already in place in the Marlins organization.

In Miami, Rodriguez would play for former Yankee great first baseman in Don Mattingly and wouldn’t be the most reviled player even in his own dugout, as Barry Bonds is the new Marlins hitting coach. Former Yankees teammate Ichiro has carved out a role helping this young Marlins team become competitive in the twilight of his illustrious MLB career.

With the Marlins frankly on the verge of being one of the better teams in the National League with stars like rightfielder Giancarlo Stanton, second baseman Dee Gordon, leftfielder Christian Yelich, and ace right-hander Jose Fernandez, perhaps A-Rod wouldn’t be entirely opposed to helping his hometown team enter the Golden Age of its existence after being mostly futile since its 1993 inception.

Given that the Marlins have never lost a postseason series, 6-0 all-time including the 1997 and 2003 World Series Championships, assuming that Miami puts it all together in time, who’s to say that Rodriguez can’t win his second World Series ring with his hometown Marlins in 2017 before calling it a career.

Rodriguez may already have a promising career as broadcaster once he hangs up the spikes (Man, was he good during last year’s postseason. Seriously!), perhaps his best bet to make more money and win another World Series is with the 2017 Marlins.
