In recent memory, you would be hard-pressed to find another mid-major player like Fred VanVleet. Despite going to a school that is recognized in a much smaller scale when compared to their in-state neighbors, there is no denying the success VanVleet has had at the collegiate level.

This can be witnessed through countless compliments, including former teammate Nick Wiggins, who tweeted “Ron (referring to Ron Baker) and Fred gave Wichita State their all! What college careers. Even better dudes off the court. Big time respect.” However, as remarkable of a run as he had at Wichita State, that’s all in the past when it comes to grading him out as an NBA prospect.

Before getting into the teams that might be looking at VanVleet, we will do a quick evaluation. Being just 6-foot tall makes size a clear weakness for him, as is the lack of explosiveness off the bounce. With this said, he makes up for it with above-average toughness and the vision that NBA general managers covet.

In order for him to make himself a beneficial piece for an NBA squad, he’ll need the ability to knock down shots. Coming off a season in which he shot just 39 percent from the field and 38 percent from deep, he’s got some work to do. In spite of this, there is reason to believe he can improve on both of those numbers as his senior season wasn’t as efficient as prior seasons. The key will be if he can get into the paint and either score himself or find a teammate for a bucket.

Here are a few potential landing destinations for the veteran point guard.
