Texas Rangers acquire help behind the plate in Tigers catcher Bryan Holaday.

According to Jon Morosi, the Texas Rangers have acquired Bryan Holaday from the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers will receive catcher Bobby Wilson and RHP Myles Jaye in return.

The trade will help fill the void behind the plate for the Rangers. In 16 games for the Tigers this spring, Holaday has dinged four home runs and has 12 RBI. The catcher also has three doubles and one triple. He also has a .438 batting average for the spring.

In 24 games with the Tigers in 2015, Holaday posted a .281 batting average, with two home runs, and 13 runs batted in.

Bobby Wilson batted .291 with one home run, and 10 RBIs in 2015 for the Rangers. The Rangers will be the catcher’s fifth team since joining the Angels in 2008.

In five seasons at the Minor League level, RHP Myles Jaye has posted a 39-39 record with a 4.38 ERA. He went 12-9 in 26 games with a 3.29 ERA at class AA Birmingham last season.

Morosi also tweeted the Tigers plan for Jaye. He will be in the starting rotation at Double-A Erie.  The trade could help both clubs, Texas needed help behind the plate and the Tigers believe Jaye could be an MLB reliever. It will be interesting to see how this trade will help each team.
