Bryce Harper might have just thrown his hat into the presidential election by wearing a “Make Baseball Fun Again” hat.

Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper has recently faced criticism for his comments about baseball being boring and wanting to make baseball fun again. Harper is a player who is not afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve. He’s an extremely passionate and competitive player, which is what makes him the polarizing figure that baseball has needed for so long.

After his team’s 4-3 Opening Day win over the Atlanta Braves, Harper wore a hat that said “Make Baseball Fun Again”.

If this means that Bryce Harper is throwing his hat into the presidential election, by all means, let’s vote for him. Think what you want about Harper, but he’s a role model to a ton of kids. Harper realizes a flaw with baseball — it’s boring. Bat flips are considered taboo. Signs of extreme joy or frustration receive finger wags.

Watch the NBA and the NFL. Both leagues allow far more emotion. Even the NHL has passionate goal celebrations. Why can’t baseball be the game that it is? Bat flips and fist pumps are a part of the game. They are what makes baseball exciting.

Harper embodies what baseball needs — a guy who wants baseball to be fun again.
