As the NBA regular season starts to roll to its end, the majority of teams are already planning fishing trips after not making the NBA Playoffs. While serious season eulogies are going on over at Hardwood Paroxysm, we here at The Friendly Bounce are taking a look at the important part of each team’s season as we bid them farewell, the fun stuff. So enjoy and feel free to add your entries to each category in the comments below and follow along with the entire series over the next two weeks.
The Philadelphia 76ers stunk this season. Like they have for just about every season in recent memory. The reasons for it remained the same, the 76ers wanted to end up with a draft pick high enough to land them a star, and the ways they did it did too. Philly once again threw out a ton of crazy athletes who normally couldn’t shoot but who were capable of some great dunks making them at least kind of entertaining when they weren’t trailing by 40. Maybe this is the year where Philly lands their star and things change next year but until then we can at least appreciate a bunch of dunks and blocks.
Most Vineable Player:
Ryne Prinz (@Ryneprinz): I’m not sure there is necessarily a correct answer, as the Sixers’ roster is filled with young athletic players. However, Jerami Grant is an excellent pick. Grant can be very aggressive and even out of control at times, but that often leads to acrobatic plays, such as highflying dunks and rude blocked shots.
Dan Favale (@danfavale): It’s Nerlens Noel all the way for me, in part because Richaun Holmes hasn’t been healthy enough this season, but also because his reach around the rim is just absurd. His block parties are also dope. It makes you wonder what he could do on an actual NBA team with actual NBA players making actual NBA salaries.
Matt Cianfrone (@Matt_Cianfrone): This was really tough for me because the Sixers have some really fun guys even if they aren’t actually good basketball players. Richaun Holmes was a sneaky good answer, but as Dan said he just didn’t play enough. So I think I lean Nerlens Noel as well but Jerami Grant was really close. He is essentially the tiny four version of Russell Westbrook which is just a wonderful description for a player.
10 Word Recaps:
But “Trust The Process” is not a ten word tagline. (Ryne)
Lights at the end of the tunnel are totally overrated. (Dan)
Dunks and blocks and lots of missed jumpers and losses. (Matt)
