The Masters: How many countries have won the Green Jacket?

In one of the most diverse tournaments in golf, many foreign golfers have won the Masters to take the Green Jacket to their home country.

The latest foreign golfer to win the Masters was Adam Scott from Australia. Being the first Australian to win the tournament, his home country welcomed him home with pride. But Scott hasn’t been the only foreigner to win the Masters.

Although it is played in America every year, the Masters is becoming more diverse every year. While only four golfers from outside the United States were invited in 1934, today, there are 51 foreign golfers from 24 different countries.

Even though the tournament is extremely diverse, United States players have won the majority of the tournaments throughout its historic tradition. United States players won the first 24 Masters tournaments before Gary Player from South Africa took home the jacket. Here are the rest of the countries that have won.

United States – 59 wins

South Africa – 5 wins

Spain – 4 wins

England – 3 wins

Germany – 2 wins

Scotland – 1 win

Wales – 1 win

Fiji – 1 win

Canada – 1 win

Argentina – 1 win

Australia – 1 win

Jack Nicklaus won the most Green Jackets with six total. He is two ahead of Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods. Gary Player and Nick Faldo are the only foreigners with at least three jackets, from South Africa and England.
