Chicago Cubs outfielders Kyle Schwarber and Dexter Fowler collided and Schwarber’s leg bent in a bad position.

There was a scary scene early on in Phoenix on Thursday night, between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Chicago Cubs. Diamondbacks second baseman Jean Segura lined a shot into the outfield and the Cubs’ Kyle Schwarber and Dexter Fowler both chased the ball down and ended up colliding with each other.

As Fowler dove for the ball, he dove right into what appeared to be the knee of Schwarber, who proceeded to flip over and fell to the ground in agony.

As a result of the collision, Segura would score on an inside-the-park home run. While Segura was rounding third for home and the fans were going crazy, Schwarber remained on the ground in serious pain on the play.

Medical personnel and trainers would attend to Schwarber immediately and would eventually put him in a sitting position. He would be carted off the field and was given an ovation from the fans for his effort on the play.

Kris Bryant would then replace him in the outfield after the injury. The way the leg bent did not look good at all. Fowler’s full wait hit it at full speed and it bent back in a terrible spot. Schwarber is a key player for the Cubs and in a tough division, they can’t afford to lose him for any amount of time.
