Buddy Hield has collected another Player of the Year Award, this time the John Wooden Award

All college basketball season long, Buddy Hield of the Oklahoma Sooners proved time and time again that he may in fact be the best player in the country. The senior was lighting up gyms all over the Big 12 and the nation, so we all knew that he would be collecting some hardware when all was said and done.

On Friday night, he added to that postseason trophy case a little more with one of the more prestigious honors that a player can receiver.

Hield came away with the 2016 John R. Wooden Award, one of the more notable awards that recognized the best all-around player in college basketball for a given season.

The Oklahoma star captured the hearts of college basketball fans all across the country, as he turned in some amazing performances, especially when he dropped 40-plus points in a three-overtime loss to Kansas in their first meeting.

Hield nearly led the Sooners to the National Championship Game, but that dream came to s screeching halt in the Final Four when they were throttled by eventual champion Villanova.

Still, that loss doesn’t take away the fact that Hield was indeed one of the best players that college basketball had to offer in 2015-16 — and this award actually recognizes him as the best.
