The 2016 Texas A&M Aggies football team will take the field for the first time on Saturday in their annual spring game.

Spring football games generate plenty of interest for fans of major programs across the country, but few places will be buzzing as much as College Station on Saturday.

Several notable teams will host their annual football Spring Game over the weekend, including the Texas A&M Aggies. Expectations will always be high in College Stations, and Aggie fans will be excited to get a first look at their team even with the regular season still months away.

Texas A&M enters the 2016 season at a bit of a crossroads, particularly in regards to the future of head coach Kevin Sumlin. The Aggies bring in loaded recruiting classes year after year, but have only managed a pair of eight-win seasons in the post-Johnny Manziel era.

Last season got off to a promising 5-0 start before the Aggies went .500 in SEC play, leading to Sumlin being on somewhat of a hot seat for 2016. Perhaps more concerning was the transfer of multiple former five-star quarterback recruits, as both Kyler Murray and Kyle Allen headed to other schools last season.

Texas A&M figures to have one of the more interesting spring games of the preseason after so much turnover in the offseason, including the hiring of new offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone. All eyes will be on the quarterback competition, as Oklahoma transfer Trevor Knight and former third stringer Jake Hubenak are neck and neck so far.
