Warriors vs Spurs, 92-86: Full highlights
The Golden State Warriors tied the NBA record for regular season wins at 72 with a win over the Spurs on Sunday night
There was an abundance of both history and playoff implications on the line on Sunday night as the Golden State Warriors went on the road to the AT&T Center to take on the vaunted San Antonio Spurs. Not only were Stephen Curry and the Warriors looking to tie the NBA record for most regular season wins in a single season, but the Spurs were looking for a bit of history at home as they hadn’t lost this season on their home floor coming into the home-finale. In essence, something had to give.
In the first half, it was offense that gave for both teams as the Warriors and Spurs both dug in their heels defensively and shut the other team down. Golden State—even with Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green all playing—managed only 14 points in the first quarter. Moreover, both teams only managed 35 points in the first half as they went into the locker room tied.
Coming out of the half, it was really a duel between two stars as both teams woke up in a major way, especially Curry and LaMarcus Aldridge. Both stars for their respective teams started going off in every way possible, including Curry finally getting in the zone from both long range and in terms of getting his floaters in the lane to fall.
When it came down to the home stretch of this contest, though, the Warriors just had the extra gear that the Spurs seemed to lack. Maybe it was the lack of Tim Duncan for the Spurs or maybe it’s just that Curry and Golden State are just that good. Whatever the case, the Warriors got win No. 72 to tie the record and now have a chance to stand alone in history in their final game of the season.

LaMarcus Aldridge – 24 points, 10 rebounds
