The Atlanta Hawks will play in their ninth straight Eastern Conference Playoffs this spring. Here are five reasons that Atlanta can win the 2016 NBA Finals.

With the 2015-16 NBA regular season drawing to a close mid-week, it’s time to look at many of the teams that could conceivably win the 2016 NBA Finals. One of those teams has to be the Atlanta Hawks, who will win close to 50 games and be no worse than a strong No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs.

Outside of the Western Conference’s San Antonio Spurs, no NBA team has made the NBA Playoffs for as many consecutive seasons as the Hawks, who will be playing in their ninth straight Eastern Conference Playoffs this upcoming weekend.

Though Atlanta can do no better than getting the No. 3 seed in the East, as the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Toronto Raptors have already won more than 50 games this year, Atlanta can not only repeat as Southeast Division Champions, but can orchestrate another deep playoff run.

While the 60-win team from last year took the Association by surprise, this year’s club may be even better than the 2014-15 version of this team despite being 10-12 wins worse at regular season’s end. On paper, Atlanta should be able to advance to the Eastern Conference Semifinals again in these playoffs.

With the right matchup and certain circumstances going in their favor, there is no reason to rule out the Hawks as a legitimate dark horse contender to win it all this June. Here are five strong reasons that Atlanta can win its first NBA Finals in 2016.
