Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz was very emotional as his daughter sang the national anthem during his final home opener.

On Monday, David Ortiz took part in the final home opener of his baseball career. The Boston Red Sox slugger was honored before the game by his team and all the fans in attendance. Even Boston sports legends like Bill Russell, Ty Law and Bobby Orr were in attendance to thank Ortiz for everything that he has done.

However, the big surprise for Ortiz was that his daughter, Alex, sang the national anthem before the game. As soon as they announced who was singing the national anthem, it was obvious that Ortiz wasn’t very far from losing it.

As the anthem went on, Ortiz began to really lose and began crying as his daughter sang a tremendous rendition of the national anthem in his final home opener.

He was immediately consoled by his teammates around him and it was the first of many fitting goodbyes that Ortiz will be taking part in this season. One of the best parts of Opening Day is standing in a line and being introduced to the fans.

With Ortiz being introduced for the final time, the Red Sox had to make sure they went all out to say goodbye to him.
