Stanford football coach David Shaw took a jab at SEC country when talking about satellite camps

The Stanford Cardinal have impressively been one of the more consistent football powerhouses in the Pac-12 and on a national scale for the better part of the past decade. However, one of their biggest hardships as a football program has been recruiting on a national scale, which seemingly was only made harder in the past week with the NCAA ruling against teams holding satellite camps. If you ask Stanford head coach David Shaw, though, he has a biting difference of opinon on the matter.

When talking about satellite camps and specifically not being able to hold camps to help recruit in SEC country, Shaw had a biting bit of criticism for the area. Specifically, Shaw insulted the intelligence of the area, saying that there would only be “one person in the entire state” that could get into Stanford:

That’s certainly one way to go about telling everyone how you really feel about the south and SEC country.

Though it’s hard to totally criticize Shaw in terms of his recruiting and how successful he’s been with his current recruiting methods, I’m not sure this is still the best way of going about it. Say a five-star recruit grows up in Georgia in the next couple of years with the academic qualifications to make it to Stanford. Shaw just insulted that young man too, so that’ doesn’t bode well for the Cardinal.
Regardless, this is a hell of a sound bite from Shaw and something that surely, definitely, indubitably won’t come up if Stanford meet up with an SEC team anytime soon.
