Utah’s Rudy Gobert sprains ankle at end of NBA Playoffs race (Video)

Jazz center Rudy Gobert suffered a nasty ankle sprain at an awful time with the NBA Playoffs starting soon

The Utah Jazz are right in the heart of an NBA Playoffs race in the Western Conference as they try to sneak in on the back end. Winning out in their final two games of the regular season on Monday and Wednesday would certainly be one way to go about doing that. However, the Jazz might have more of a difficult time doing that after star center Rudy Gobert suffered an ankle injury on Monday night against the Dallas Mavericks.

Midway through the second quarter as the Jazz were trailing but still looking to pick up a big win on Monday night, Gobert was in the lane and went up to try and block a shot. When the big Frenchman landed, though, he came down all wrong and turned his ankle in a really nasty way that left him hobbling off of the court (Note: If injuries make you squeamish, steer clear of this video:

You literally couldn’t pick a worse time for this injury to happen. Not only is he out for the rest of this crucial game against the Mavs, but his status for the Jazz’s season finale on Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Lakers is certainly in jeopardy just judging by what you see in that video.

Rudy Gobert is really the heart of this Jazz team with his shot blocking and anchoring the defense. If he can’t go anytime soon, Utah is undoubtedly going to be up against it.
