2. They miss the Warriors until the Western Conference Finals

This season the theme of the playoffs appears to be to go as far as you can and hope that somebody knocks off the Warriors before you have to. Kind of a bold way to go about it, but this Golden State team is unreal.

It would be a stretch for any team to knock off the Warriors, let alone a team that flirted with .500 all season. However, being the six-seed would mean that their bracket is on the opposite side of the Western Conference playoffs.

Sure, it means that the Thunder are on deck and that more than likely is followed up by the San Antonio Spurs, but let’s get real the Mavs would rather face either or both if it meant the next round was against someone other than the Warriors.

There is always that small chance that by the time you see the Warriors, that they are so banged up from the grind of trying to win 73 games in the regular season, plus knocking off two playoff opponents, that maybe you do not get a full strength Warrior team.

Any scenario where the Warriors are not the team that they are today by the Western Conference Finals helps the Mavericks. It would only be ice cream on the cake if they were somehow to avoid not only the Warriors, but the Spurs in an upset-filled playoff, but let’s not shoot too high yet Mavs fans.
