Anaheim Ducks vs. Nashville Predators

The Pacific Division champion Anaheim Ducks welcome the Nashville Predators to Honda Center tonight for game one of the NHL playoffs first round series. This will be the firsts playoff matchup between the two teams since the opening round of the 2011 playoffs, a series that saw Nashville advance in six games.

The Ducks appear to be taking big strides towards returning to full health as Rickard Rakell, David Perron, Sami Vatanen and Kevin Bieksa were all full participants during practice this week. The return of center Rickard Rakell is a big one as the Ducks now have a lethal one-two-three punch up the middle and that could cause some matchup nightmares for Nashville. John Gibson looks to be the man in net tonight for the Ducks and he will go against Nashville’s veteran goaltender Pekka Rinne.

Rinne had a shaky regular season and he will have to be better and more consistent in this series if Nashville is going to have any shot at advancing. Center Ryan Johansen was acquired at the trade deadline to give Nashville added offense come playoff time, will he be able to handle the pressure of playing against Ryan Kesler and Ryan Getzlaf?
