The NBA will not put any ads on the jerseys that you buy.Â
The NBA has made a controversial decision to allow advertisement patches on the jerseys that the players will wear starting in 2017-2018. Fans might not like the move, but at least the league will not put any advertisement patches on the jerseys that fans buy.
Important: The NBA owners have decided that corporate logos will NOT appear on jerseys at retail.

If the league put those advertisement patches on retail jerseys and customized jerseys, that was likely going to be a problem with most fans. This is a very smart decision by a league that has been making quite a bit of them as of late. It allows the league to make money off the advertisement patches from sponsors and corporations while keeping fans happy at the same time.
Since the NBA has now allowed advertisement patches, it wouldn’t be surprising to see other leagues follow. The NHL has discussed adding advertisements to their uniforms for quite some time. Considering how much the NFL relies on their sponsors, it wouldn’t be surprising if fans soon saw corporate logos on their favorite team’s jersey on Sundays. While the MLB has never discussed the issue at length, if they see that other leagues are making money off advertisements on uniforms, they will most likely follow suit.
