Currently, Mike Conley and Memphis are getting an education on the fact that the Spurs aren’t ready to turn over the keys to a basketball dynasty over to any team in the NBA, much less their first round opponents. While it will likely be a quick series, Conley may see the best chance for him being down in the Lone Star State.

It’s no secret that the Spurs are an aging team that will, one day, no longer contain the trio of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili leading them to NBA championships or at least in the running for them. Conley could come in and allow Parker to come off the bench in more of a “extra piece” roll that would keep both players fresh for a long playoff run.

If Conley was to sign with the Spurs (assuming they offer him a deal), San Antonio would likely become a Finals favorite before the ink is even signed on the contract. He could learn from the three champions down by The Alamo on how to play like a winner and expect to win, something that the Grizzlies had for a while before that window seemed to have closed.
