There has been a lot speculation that the Cowboys could go rogue and take a quarterback here. For me, that makes some level of sense considering Tony Romo’s age and durability concerns, but for a team that is as “close” as the Cowboys are with regard to a Super Bowl pursuit, the difference between adding a player who can help right away and a 2-to-3 year project is stark. “Fortunately”, both of the top quarterbacks are gone, taking that option off the table for Jerry.

That makes this a wildly simple decision. Joey Bosa is the best player in this draft in my view, and McShay agrees by ranking him number one on his big board. Dallas has a need at the defensive end position with Greg Hardy off the roster, and while Bosa is not quite the flashiest pick available, he is easily the safest.

There is some level of skepticism in the industry about Bosa’s lack of high-end speed off the edge, and I will grant that it limits his ultimate upside a bit. However, players with his level of explosiveness have still proven to be elite defensive ends in the past, and Bosa is absolutely tremendous in every other facet of play. He will be a double-digit sack player at the NFL level, and when combined with his ability to stop the run, Bosa is going to be a monster.
. DE. Ohio State. Joey Bosa. 4. player. 123
