Western Illinois. Rodney Harrison. 5. player. 13. . S

Rodney Harrison turned out to be a great fifth round pick out of Western Illinois. He was drafted 145th overall in 1994. Harrison played for the Chargers in the beginning of his career, until 2002, then he finished his career with the Patriots. Harrison helped anchor this defense throughout the late 90s and early 2000s.

He was, during his time, one of the best defensive backs in the league. Not only does he hold the record for the most sacks in the NFL for a safety, but he was the first player to return an interception for a touchdown, a fumble for a touchdown and a kickoff for a touchdown in 1997.

He has reached the pro bowl twice in his career with the Chargers. He was a part of the only San Diego Chargers team to reach the Super Bowl, although they lost to the San Francisco 49ers. In 2000, he set a career-high with 127 tackles to go along with six interceptions.

Even though he was a fifth round pick for the Chargers, he turned out to be one of their best draft picks ever. He was a vital key to this defense and a great safety.
