Trash talking is a thing that happens often in the NBA. Players by nature are competitive people and any little advantage makes a huge difference. By bothering an opponent to the point where they may be not completely focused on what they need to be doing, players are able to find that advantage. On Wednesday night Detroit Pistons rookie Stanley Johnson took trashing talking up a level as he claimed that he was “definitely in his head, for sure,” in regards to LeBron James.
As Johnson is about to learn, trash talking normal NBA players is fine. Trash talking LeBron James, and claiming to be in his head, is not. Fortunately for Johnson, he didn’t quite say the worst possible thing he could to James. As a staff we compiled what could have possible been worse:
“LeBron James is a choke artist softbaby.” (Matt Cianfrone, @Matt_Cianfrone)
“Hey Bron, you’ve got something in your ear. Let me try to blow it out for you.” (Ian Levy, @HickoryHigh)
“The Land” is cheesy. (Ryne Prinz, @Ryneprinz)
“Pistons in six.” (Levy)
“Mario Chalmers carried you to a title.” (Cianfrone)
“Banana boats are stupid.” (Cianfrone)
“I was Born Ready. Were you?” (Levy)
“Jason Terry and JJ Barea.”(Prinz)
“I bet you don’t even drive a Kia.” (Dan Favale, @Danfavale)
“808s and Heartbreak is Kanye’s best album.” (Cianfrone)
