2. Jonathon Niese-Pittsburgh Pirates

One of my regular options in my fantasy baseball streaming pitchers over the last few seasons has been Jonathan Niese who for many years was a solid part of the Mets rotation.  This offseason the Mets dealt Niese to Pittsburgh for 2B Neil Walker, but Niese is still under-owned (15%) as he takes the hill tonight in a good matchup in Arizona.

Niece has been a little inconsistent with his new team but has gotten progressively better with each start.  He got knocked around for five runs in five innings in his Pittsburgh debut against St. Louis but improved against the Tigers in his second outing, and then he really looked good in his last start against the Brewers.  He hurled seven shutout innings against Milwaukee allowing just three hits and three walks while also striking out three to improve to 2-0.  He has held opponents to a .197 average and has a solid 1.00 WHIP, so he’s definitely an option to consider tonight in the desert.

He’ll be opposed tonight by the D-Backs’ Patrick Corbin who is also off to a strong start, so don’t expect many runs tonight at Chase Field.  Niese will look to remain undefeated in his Pirates’ tenure as he takes the hill tonight looking for his third straight win.
