The Spurs battled the Grizzlies again and came away with a victory.

29. Final. 87. 211. 96

The San Antonio Spurs were all over the Memphis Grizzlies in the first two games of this series in the NBA Playoffs. The scores weren’t close as top production from the usual suspects like Tim Duncan, Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge was provided. The Grizzlies didn’t stand much of a chance.

Fortunately for Memphis, they kept this one a game throughout.

The Spurs started hot, as Leonard put in his first three buckets, including a three-pointer. However, the Grizzlies would actually tie up the game midway through the first quarter. They had barely led for a minute in the entire series, so it seemed they were clawing back. The Spurs quickly went back ahead, though, to finish off the low scoring 12 minutes.

As the second quarter waned, though, the Grizzlies finally took the lead. Lance Stephenson had a nice quarter for Memphis and had 8 points when they took over. However, this lasted about 15 seconds as Leonard hit a big three to put the Spurs on top.

The Grizzlies did close in once again, as Matt Barnes hit a shot at the end of the quarter to close the Spurs’ lead to 44-43.

To open the third quarter, the Grizzlies would go back on top with Vince Carter hitting a big shot. Two more free throws would give them their biggest lead of the series at 51-48. The lead would continue to flip flop throughout the period with both teams going up by no more than 1-3 points. The score would be 71-70, Grizzlies at the end of three.

As the fourth quarter began, the Spurs started pulling ahead. They went up six points around halfway through the period. Lance Stephenson also appeared to have suffered a leg injury that caused him to leave the game.

The Grizzlies then started a big comeback. They used their “grit” that everyone raves about by keeping the ball up around the rim, getting putbacks and closing the gap on the lead. However, as the theme of the night, the Spurs went back ahead. They would eventually pull away and win the game.
