5. Matt Shoemaker-Los Angeles Angles

Shoemaker had a nightmare outing in his first star too the year, but he has been very good in his two outings since then.  He’ll take on the Mariners this afternoon at 3:35 as the Angels reach the half-way point in their six-game homestand.

He faced the Rangers in his first start of the year allowing six earned runs in three innings.  He bounced back, though, with six shutout innings against the A’s in his second outing and another quality start in his last outing allowing two runs in 6.1 innings. On the year, his ERA is down to 4.70, and he’ll be looking to level his record to 2-2.

Shoemaker is in a good matchup as he faces Wade Miley and the Mariners today.  Over the last three seasons, Shoemaker is 3-2 with a 2.88 ERA in eight appearances including six starts against the M’s, and Miley has been a mess in all three of his starts with the Mariners and comes in 0-2 with a 8.04 ERA. Shoemaker should be able to get a win if he turns in another quality start.
