Eli Apple. 20. player. 30.
The Jets would apparently love to pull the trigger on a quarterback, but the highest-rated player at the position (Paxton Lynch) is not a fit in New York. If they were to go in search of a signal-caller, it would make a lot more sense to look at a player like Connor Cook that could play right away, but the Jets are built to win now more than most teams in the quarterback derby, and they can invest elsewhere with more safety and value.

Eli Apple is a player that I probably like more than most, and in my brain, he would be gone by now. Apple is my favorite corner in the draft, and he is certainly worth a top-20 investment considering his immense upside.

Apple brings the best size and athleticism of any corner in this class, and unless you believe in Dee Milliner long-term (I do not), the Jets need an outside corner in a bad way. Buster Skrine has developed nicely in the slot, but outside of Darrelle Revis, New York does not have a credible outside corner, and Apple could start right away as an upgrade on Milliner and the rest.

The Jets think they can win now, and Paxton Lynch won’t help them do that. Apple could.
. CB. Ohio State
