Who walked out of Game 5 victorious between the Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics?

Final. 110. 125. 83. 18

The Celtics went to Atlanta for Game 5 of this back and forth NBA Playoff series. Each team won their two home games, so it became a best-of-3 on Tuesday night.

The first quarter saw a pretty low amount of scoring, as Boston led 20-15. Early play from Jae Crowder with his 5 points and 2 rebounds helped carry the team. The Hawks showed little to no ball movement as well despite being known for their passing to set players up for a good shot. They steadily got this going in the second quarter.

Boston started the second quarter with 7 quick points in the first few minutes, led by Jared Sullinger. The lead would go up to as many as 9 but the Hawks came roaring back. They hit a few big three-pointers to cut the gap to 2. Another three would give them the lead at 32-31. Kent Bazemore then just started hitting shot after shot and suddenly, the Hawks were up by 10.

Then in the third quarter, the Hawks just took off with the lead. They were on a ridiculous hot streak that saw them get the lead to 80-58 with the ball movement and a 14-1 run. This put the game out of reach for the Celtics.

To make matters worse for the Celtics, star point guard Isaiah Thomas appeared to have injured his ankle or foot. He immediately left the game and went to the locker room just minutes into the fourth quarter.

Eventually, the lead crossed 30 and the Hawks brought in their backups. We actually had a Kris Humphries sighting and he hit a few shots, including a three-pointer. The Hawks would win this one 110-83.

Three Stars

1) Kent Bazemore, Hawks – Bazemore was a huge part of the Hawks’ second half run, putting up 16 points and 4 three-pointers. He also contributed 5 rebounds.

2) Paul Millsap, Hawks – Millsap finished with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists.

3) Jeff Teague, Hawks – Teague had 16 points and 3 assists.
