A look at the five best NFL draft picks in Denver Broncos history.

The Denver Broncos have obviously had a great deal of success over their 56-year history, including most recently winning Super Bowl 50 against the Carolina Panthers behind one of the most dominant defensive efforts in the Big Game that we’ve ever seen. If you want to know how that defense was constructed, though, you can look at the NFL draft. The Broncos have been extremely successful in recent years at finding value and impact players on that side of the ball.

In fact, all three of the Broncos Super Bowl victories can attributed to some excellent picks in the draft. While John Elway, a No. 1 overall pick in 1983, played a huge role in the wins in 1997 and 1998, it was actually some crafty work in later drafts that really helped them finally get over the hump and win the big one.

What’s clear, though, is the fact that the Broncos have a history of making good things happen for their team in the NFL draft. They have hit it big on their early first round picks and found value later in the draft. Malik Jackson and Danny Trevathan, selected in the fifth and sixth rounds of the 2012 draft, just missed the cut here, which tells you how well Denver has picked over the years.

Here are the five best draft picks in the history of the Denver Broncos.
