After the Los Angeles Rams traded Eric Dickerson, the franchise slowly began a descent that led them leaving Los Angeles for St. Louis. They also couldn’t find the running back that would replace Dickerson and his production in the backfield.

In 1988, the Rams had one of their worst drafts ever as a franchise. They had a bunch of draft picks and none of them really panned out too much, save Flipper Anderson. With their first pick in 1988, the Rams took running back Gaston Green out of UCLA.

With Green being a local product and the guy that was supposed to replace Dickerson, there was a ton of hype surrounding him. To make matters worse, they passed on Thurman Thomas when they selected Green.

Green’s best year only produced 261 yards. Dickerson used to get that much in a game on occasion. If that wasn’t enough to cement himself as one of the worst picks by the Rams ever, he went on to have one All-Pro year for the Denver Broncos in 1991.

He was supposed to be the next big running back and he rushed for zero touchdowns in his three years as a Ram.
