MLB Trade Deadline: One trade each team should make
By Jason Evans
Milwaukee Brewers
Johnathan Lucroy to the Astros for Michael Feliz, Jon Singleton and Jandel Gustave
No one knows the Astros system better than the Brewers GM David Stephens. The Brewers and Astros made a deal before the trade deadline last year when Carlos Gomez and Mike Fiers. The Brewers have Johnathan Villar and Chris Carter on their roster as well who are former Astros. They may as well continue this trend.
The Astros get a veteran backstop, who is cheap and is an upgrade over Jason Castro. Lucroy will also fit nicely in the lineup where he doesn’t have to hit cleanup like he does with the Brewers. Lucroy can also help the pitching staff with his game calling and defense.
The Brewers get more pieces to build with.
Singleton can be their first baseman now and in the future. The Astros have Tyler White and prospect A.J. Reed coming. They can use Singleton and his already completed long-term deal as an asset to upgrade at a different position. Feliz and Gustave add depth to the Brewers minor league pitching staff and possible pieces to their future in their rotation and their bullpen.
