Miami Marlins-Derek Dietrich and Jose Urena to Tampa for Matt Moore

The Miami Marlins have put together a team that has a pretty good offense. Yes, it helps having Giancarlo Stanton, but Dee Gordon won a batting title, Christian Yelich is solid and Martin Prado is a great veteran presence. The thing that is going to hold them back is their starting pitching. Outside of Jose Fernandez and Wei-Yin Chen, it leaves a lot to be desired.

This is where this trade can help. Moore has looked better as he is further along in his recovery from Tommy John surgery. Moore can step into the rotation for the Marlins and give them another arm that they need in order to try and compete with the Mets and the Nationals in the NL East.

For the Rays, they get a bat in Dietrich who hasn’t had a chance to get consistent playing time. Dietrich has put up some decent numbers in the minors and it could be that he could be another Logan Forsythe for them. Urena can be an option for the Rays to either relieve or start for them as they figure out what role what suit him better.
