San Francisco Giants-Kyle Crick to the Atlanta Braves for Jason Grilli

Another contending team that could use a bullpen arm is the San Francisco Giants. They just lost Sergio Romo and George Kantos to arm injuries. Grilli can fit right in to their relief corps. He can give them late inning depth whether they want him to close one day and setup for Santiago Casilla the next.

For the Braves, they get a power arm with some control issues to say the least. Crick accomplished an interesting feat last season. He had more strikeouts AND walks than innings pitched last season. In 63 innings, he walked 66 and struck out 74. It could be that the best thing for him is just to stay in the bullpen and for him to go into a new situation. Sometimes something can click if they stay in the bullpen like it did for Dellin Betances. Although he didn’t have the extreme walk rate that Crick does, now that he only has to repeat his delivery in shorter bursts, it’s helped his control.

Crick would fit right in with the Braves power arm rebuilding plan. If they can figure out how to harness his control, it could be a real weapon for them.
