Atlanta Braves– Erick Aybar to the Nationals for A.J. Cole

For the Braves, Aybar is a free agent after the season. They can cash him in and get another pitcher which fits in with how they are rebuilding their roster. It’s with young, power arms. Some will relive and some will start, but it gives them options to figure it out. Cole fits this roster rebuilding plan. The Braves can use the extra arms to get bats down the line. Daniel Castro can play at short and they have other players like Chase d’Arnaud and Emilio Bonifacio to fill in as Dansby Swanson and Ozzie Albiles continue to develop

For the Nats, the one weak spot they have in the lineup is at shortstop. They have Trea Turner and Wilmer Difo coming up through the system. IF they don’t trust Turner to be the guy at short quite yet, they can use Aybar the rest of the season at the position and then have Turner next season at the position to start the year. They have Stephen Drew as well, but Drew hasn’t been a good hitter in a few years and he’s expendable.
