MLB Trade Deadline: One trade each team should make
By Jason Evans
Chicago Cubs– Albert Almora and Carl Edwards Jr to the Atlanta Braves for Julio Teheran
The Cubs have as many hitting prospects as the Kardashian’s have viewers for their show. It’s time to cash one of those and get another starter for their rotation. The Cubs can deal Almora with Billy Mckinney and Ian Happ coming right behind him as outfield prospects. The Cubs still have depth in the outfield even with Kyle Schwarber. Teheran can slot right into the rotation and give them as deep a rotation as any in the game. It’s a steep price to pay, but Teheran is also locked up on a team friendly contract as well.
The Braves get another power arm to help the rebuild. The trick is to figure out what role Edwards should play. Should he start or come out of the bullpen? In Almora, they get another prospect they can build around and maybe even come up for them by the end of the season to show what he has in the outfield. Any at-bat they can give him instead of Drew Stubbs or Jeff Francoeur is a win. Those two aren’t a part of the future. They don’t have a ton of hitting prospects at the higher levels of their farm system and this a way to get one.
