2. Clay Buchholz-Boston Red Sox (16.4%)

You know its a thin day for fantasy baseball streaming pitchers when Clay Buchholz is one of the “safer” plays on the board despite his lack of overall consistency.  Clay can be great when he’s dialed in, but he has struggled so far this season and comes into tonight’s start with an ugly 6.33 ERA.

In three of his four starts, Buchholz has allowed five earned runs, but in his one other start he threw an impressive 6.2 shutout innings against the Blue Jays.  His last outing was also almost a good one, but he allowed a grand slam to red-hot Cody Rasmus which ended up proving extremely costly to both his stats and the Red Sox. Buchholz will get a chance to bounce back tonight in a very favorable matchup as he and the Red Sox look to close out a four-game, home-and-home sweep against Atlanta.

The Braves are an abysmal 4-17 after losing last night to the Red Sox, and they don’t have much offensive firepower at all.  Buchholz should be able to bounce back tonight and should be able to pick up a win if he can avoid allowing the critical home runs he has been plagued by this season.
