Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel has been photographed watching the NFL draft in a bar in Columbus.

The story of the draft two years ago was the plethora of quarterbacks scheduled to go in the first and second rounds. Blake Bortles, Derek Carr, Teddy Bridgewater and Johnny Manziel were all seen as potential franchise quarterbacks. Three of these are still seen as potential franchise quarterbacks. The other is no longer in the league and there’s not guessing who that is.

Johnny Football has been photographed looking pretty glum watching the 2016 NFL draft in a Columbus bar. Only two years ago, he was sitting in the draft room, patiently waiting for his name to be called. He eventually slipped all the way to 22nd overall where the lowly Cleveland Browns selected the Texas A&M quarterback. It was a match made in hell.

Manziel caused trouble in his rookie season, eventually being admitted to rehab during the offseason, and although he did not receive much support from his reluctant employers, he did not help himself with his off-field antics. He came to training camp before the 2016 season in a battle with Josh McCown. He lost.

The former Heisman winner did get to play this last season, and while he flashed some on field potential, simply didn’t show enough of his apparent quality to allow the Browns to see past his misdemeanors. Johnny Football is now looking for a team and looking at a screen while watching what was once his big time stage.
