The Los Angeles Rams have selected Jared Goff with the first overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Weeks before the NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams traded up to the No. 1 overall pick, previously held by the Tennessee Titans. With quarterbacks being rumored to go at the top of the draft, it was expected that they would be taking the signal caller they prefer with that top selection.

Well, that was the case as the Rams selected quarterback Jared Goff from the University of California.

Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 215 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.82
Notable stat: Threw for 4,714 yards in 2015.

Goff was always talked about as one of the top quarterbacks in the 2016 draft, being referred to as the best by some. The Rams made it clear that they felt he was good enough to move all the way from pick No. 15 while mortgaging multiple drafts in the process.

In his final season at Cal, Goff has a tremendous season, passing for 4,714 yards and 43 touchdowns. He showed off his strong throwing arm throughout the year, which has been known as a positive for him going into the NFL where a powerful arm is crucial to make the necessary throws. The 13 interceptions

However, he 13 interceptions was a career-high, which was a bit of a concern. This was also noted by scouts who questioned how accurate of a quarterback he could be in the pros. There is also a question of how he can handle pressure as he was sacked 81 times in three seasons.

Goff and fellow quarterback Carson Wentz will now be linked to forever, similar to the way Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III are from the 2012 draft. Who becomes the better quarterback will be interesting to watch over the next few years.

Grade: B
