The New York Jets are trying to trade up in the 2016 NFL draft.

As the first round of the NFL draft rumbles on, we are beginning to enter the latter half of the round and there is one major name still available. The quest to find a franchise quarterback is always a difficult one in the NFL, but one that, if successful, can lead to multiple Super Bowls. Just ask the Patriots and Tom Brady. It looks as though the New York Jets are looking to find their franchise quarterback, with that man likely to be Paxton Lynch.

Lynch is a talented, though far from elite, quarterback, and some have pointed to his arm talent as a potential reason why a organization may trade up for him. The New York Jets have had great difficulty at the quarterback position for many years, struggling to nail down a franchise quarterback since perhaps the days of Joe Namath, and with Ryan Fitzpatrick currently holding out for a bigger money contract, they could be looking to Lynch to be their future under center.

The Buffalo Bills, picking one place ahead of the Jets, are perhaps the biggest challengers to maybe draft Lynch, and New York could well be looking to jump ahead of their AFC East rivals and beat them to the punch. We will have to wait and see what comes of the Jets’ pursuit of Lynch, but the drafting of a young, potential franchise quarterback, is always an exciting development.
