The Jaguars have selected Jalen Ramsey with the fifth pick in the 2016 NFL Draft

After three stellar seasons manning the secondary for the Florida State Seminoles, Jalen Ramsey is now a member of the National Football League. Ramsey was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft Thursday.

Height: 6’1″

Weight: 209

40-yard dash: 4.41

Notable stat: Moved from safety to cornerback before the 2015 season

Jalen Ramsey arrived in Tallahassee as one of the most sought after recruits in the 2013 signing class. He played a crucial role at the safety position as the Seminoles won the 2013 national championship with a win over the Auburn Tigers.

After switching positions for the 2015 season, he was named a consensus All-American and helped lead the Seminoles to a 10-2 regular season record and a berth in the Peach Bowl.

After an impressive showing at the NFL combine and later at FSU’s Pro Day, Ramsey was placed in several mock drafts as a candidate to be the top pick overall. Though he is listed by many as a safety in the NFL, he will likely see time at both that position and cornerback in the NFL while he prepares for what should be a long NFL career.

Grade: A
