4. Alex Wood-Los Angeles Dodgers (34.2%)

Wood’s season hasn’t gotten off to a great start. He has allowed three runs or more in three of his four starts resulting in an unsightly 6.00 ERA to go with his 1-2 record.  He even lost in his return to Atlanta despite the Braves early-season struggles.

The reason that I have hope for Wood delivering a good performance tonight is that he’s back at Dodger Stadium and he’s taking on the light-hitting Padres.  Wood’s three bad starts all came on the road while at home he allowed just one run on five hits in seven innings in a win over Arizona.  He struck out a season-high five in his last outing which wasn’t helped by the fact that he was pitching in hitter-friendly Coors Field.

Wood is high-risk tonight given his rocky start to the year, but he has a solid lineup behind him and is in a matchup where a quality start should net him a win.  He will probably be on the fringes of rosters for much of the season, but if you need to pick up a player for tonight’s game check out Wood in this good matchup.
