What did fans have to say about the New England Patriots selecting Jacoby Brissett?
The New England Patriots have been dealing with plenty of controversy this offseason, all of which is not new. Tom Brady’s four-game suspension for DeflateGate was overturned earlier in April. He was originally handed this after the 2015 Super Bowl and the suspension was eventually taken away a short time before last season.
With the only quarterback behind Brady being Jimmy Garoppolo, they decided to select one in the 2016 NFL Draft. North Carolina State signal caller Jacoby Brissett is now a Patriot, as he was selected over Conor Cook who was expected to be the fourth quarterback taken.
With the Pats taking Brissett, fans weighed in on the situation and had some interesting comments on Twitter.
@MikeyAdamsWEEI jacoby brissett huh? is this merely because they need QB depth or do they wanna get rid of jimmy?

I'll probably never know but wonder if the Browns would picked Jacoby Brissett... Pats scooped him right before the Browns picked Kessler.

If you would have told me in 2011 that Jacoby Brissett would be a 3rd round pick (in 2016 no less)...

Cody Kessler and Jacoby Brissett were draft before Cardale Jones and Connor Cook. Something I would've never guessed.

Was looking forward to Jimmy Garoppollo taking over, looks like its on to Jacoby Brissett. Who's last name is much easier to spell

OKAY IN WHAT WORLD ARE JACOBY BRISSETT AND CODY KESSLER BETTER THAN CONNOR COOK
— Rodger Sherman (@rodger) April 30, 2016
I can't believe we didn't pick Cody Kessler or Connor Cook, but instead this Jacoby Brissett guy @Patriots

I will tell you this – Jacoby Brissett embodies the Patriot way.

lol Patriots drafted Jacoby Brissett ? nothing wrong with him but it was plenty of better QBs still on the board
— Leonard T (@LTtwo) April 30, 2016
Maybe Jacoby Brissett will get a few starts, since Tom Brady is suspended for the first four games

Jacoby Brissett over Connor Cook lol

If it wasn’t obvious, fans are questioning the Patriots choosing Brissett over Michigan State’s Connor Cook, who remains on the board. Brissett and Cleveland Browns draft pick Cody Kessler were expected to be picked in the latter rounds of the draft, so that’s also why fans may be curious about this.
There is also the chance of Garoppolo leaving for free agency after the 2016 season. With Brady having recently re-signed with New England, this might be the backup plan. Bill Belichick and company may have a plan, though, and based on recent history, it’s hard to question what they’re doing.
