The Chicago Bears used their 10 2016 NFL Draft picks to supplement John Fox’s once-barren roster. Here are the 10 newest members of the Bears football team.

The Chicago Bears needed to bring in premier talent to their football team, as the 2015 team just didn’t have the on-field talent to routinely hang with the better teams in the NFC. Under new head coach John Fox and former offensive coordinator Adam Gase, Chicago frankly over-performed in the middle part of the 2015 NFL season. Here are the 10 players the Bears drafted that Fox has to work with.

  • Round 1 (9): Leonard Floyd, OLB, Georgia
  • Round 2 (56): Cody Whitehair, G, Kansas State
  • Round 3 (72): Jonathan Bullard, DT, Florida
  • Round 4 (113): Nick Kwiatkoski, ILB, West Virginia
  • Round 4 (124): Deon Bush, S, Miami (FL)
  • Round 4 (127): Deiondre’ Hall, S, Northern Iowa
  • Round 5 (150): Jordan Howard, RB, Indiana
  • Round 6 (185): DeAndre Houston-Carson, FS, William & Mary
  • Round 7 (239): Daniel Braverman, WR, Western Michigan

The Bears seem to have found some high contributing players with their first several picks. They traded up from No. 11 to No. 9 to land Georgia Bulldogs outside linebacker Leonard Floyd.

While he has unbelievable upside, he could likely bust with so-so tackling skills in the backfield and trouble stuffing the run. He is a pick that many teams would have loved to have used a mid-first to early second-round pick on, but Chicago may have really reached to get the Georgia pass rusher.

Their second and third picks of the draft in Kansas State Wildcats guard Cody Whitehair and Florida Gators defensive tackle Jonathan Bullad at times commanded first-round attention. Bush, Howard, and Hall could all become NFL starters, especially playing on a Bears team that needs an influx of young players to stay competitive in the highly-contested NFC North.

Overall, the Bears seemed to get value with most of their picks, particularly in the mid-to-late rounds. Hopefully Chicago’s fine 2016 NFL Draft work is enough to have them be a formidable challenger to the rival Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, and Minnesota Vikings.
