Despite trading out of the first round, the Kansas City Chiefs walked away with ample talent.

Kansas City came into the 2016 NFL Draft with seven picks and finished up with nine. The Chiefs traded out of the first round and then later the second, turning those trades into seven picks on Day 3.

Here is the list of picks Kansas City made in the 2016 NFL Draft:

  • Round 2 (37) – Chris Jones, DL, Mississippi State
  • Round 3 (74) – KeiVarae Russell, CB, Notre Dame
  • Round 4 (105) – Parker Ehinger, OG, Cincinnati
  • Round 4 (106) – Eric Murray, CB, Minnesota
  • Round 4 (126) – Demarcus Robinson, WR, Florida
  • Round 5 (162) – Kevin Hogan, QB, Stanford
  • Round 5 (165) – Tyreek Hill, WR, West Alabama
  • Round 6 (178) – D.J. White, CB, Georgia Tech
  • Round 6 (203) – Dadi Nicolas, LB, Virginia Tech

Kansas City appears to have gotten very nice value in the early going. Jones is the kind of player who can dominate a game, provided he remains consistent. He will rotate in with Jaye Howard and Allen Bailey on the end spots of the 3-4 scheme.

Russell could be a major steal. The kid fell a bit because of a broken leg last year, but he can play press-man coverage with nice athleticism. Kansas City added two more corners in White and Murray, bringing them in to compete for the starting job opposite Marcus Peters.
