The San Diego Chargers upgraded on both side of the ball, headlined by Joey Bosa.

After going 4-12 in 2015, the San Diego Chargers are hoping to rebound and win the AFC West for the first time since 2009. While that might seem like somewhat of a pipe dream, the Chargers started the process with a nice offseason that concluded with the draft.

Here is the list of picks San Diego made in the 2016 NFL Draft:

  1. Round 1 (3) – Joey Bosa, DE, Ohio State
  2. Round 2 (35) – Hunter Henry, TE, Arkansas
  3. Round 3 (66) – Max Tuerk, C, USC
  4. Round 4 (102) – Joshua Perry, OLB, Ohio State
  5. Round 5 (175) – Jatavis Brown, LB, Akron
  6. Round 6 (179) – Drew Kasar, P, Texas A&M
  7. Round 6 (198) – Derek Watt, FB, Wisconsin
  8. Round 7 (224) – Donavon Clark, OG, Michigan State

San Diego has a long road back to the top of the AFC West, but Bosa might be a nice place to start. Bosa is the kind of guy who can create off the edge, getting pressure on Derek Carr and Alex Smith (and whoever starts for the Denver Broncos).

In addition, it is a smart move to pick up Hunter Henry. This is a guy who is considered the best tight end in a weak class. He will compete for the second tight end spot, learning from Antonio Gates in 2016 before taking over the top spot in 2017.
