57.
Jonathan Allen probably would have been a first round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, at least if teams in the league were doing their homework. Yes, he is that good.

Allen was often overshadowed by players like Reggie Ragland, A’Shawn Robinson and Jarran Reed during his junior season with the Crimson Tide, but he was the team’s most productive pass rusher. The 6-foot-3, 270-pound rising senior from Leesburg, Va. held the team lead with 12 sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss in 2015, and that led Allen to being a player most expected to land in the first round if he declared for the draft a year early.

It is fair to criticize his (relative) lack of overall ceiling, simply because Allen isn’t dominant in one singular area. He is certainly quick enough and explosive enough to win on the edge, but at nearly 275 pounds, some feel as if he isn’t the pure pass-rusher that teams covet in this range. For me, though, Allen’s versatility is ultimately quite appealing, and if he can produce at anything resembling his 2015 level while playing against (a lot) more double and triple teams as a senior, it will be extremely impressive.

Jonathan Allen is about as “safe” as you can get for a player that will remain a first rounder projecting a year out, and I’m a big fan.
. DE. Alabama. Jonathan Allen. 9. player
