19. Final. 3. 92. 2

The Penguins got two early goals against the Capitals in Game 3 as Pittsburgh beat Washington 3-1 in Game 3 to take a 2-1 series lead. Pittsburgh scored two goals on their first three shots on goal as they got a deflection from Patric Hornqvist six minutes into the game and a goal that went off of Tom Kuhnhackl’s back seven minutes into the game. They also got a second period goal credited to Carl Hagelin that went off a defenseman’s skate.

Alex Ovechkin gave the Capitals hope with a third period goal and Justin Williams sure made it interesting with a goal with 56 seconds left, but despite getting 49 shots on goal, the Caps could only get 47 past Murray.

Something worth watching next game is if Penguins defenseman Kris Letang will play because he might be suspended after a late hit to the head during the first period.

Three stars

Murray was the main reason why the Penguins won the game with 47 saves. He made countless highlight reel saves, and had it not been for him, the Caps would have likely won.

Hagelin might have gotten a weird goal, but like it or not, it was the game winner, so he gets the second star. He also had two shots on goal and was stellar while the Pens were shorthanded.

Ovechkin got two points and nearly single handedly willed his team to victory. That gets him a well deserved third star.

Next Game

Game 4 will be on Wednesday, May 4 at 8:00 PM EST. If Letang is suspended, it could end very badly for the Penguins unless Murray stands on his head against the Capitals again.
