Hassan Whiteside was down in pain during Game 1 against the Raptors on Tuesday

Update: After being taken to the locker room, Whiteside has since returned to the bench and has re-entered the game as well.

The Miami Heat are continuing their quest to the NBA title on Tuesday and they are doing so against the Toronto Raptors in Game 1. However, disaster may have struck in the form of a Hassan Whiteside injury.

In the first quarter of this one, the Heat center took a slip on the floor and he immediately started clutching at his knee. It looked like a scary fall from the get go, and he then went to the bench for some evaluation.

These types of non-contact injuries on the court will happen from time to time and this one looked a little scarier than others. There’s nothing you can really do about them and they are indeed a tragedy. In addition to the knee, you can also see his head slam off the court, so he might have a concussion as well.

If Whiteside does have a serious injury to that knee, then that’s not good news for the Heat going forward in these playoffs. He has played tremendously for them all season long and there’s no doubt they need him to win that title.
